Team building - only when tailor made

Team building has not a great reputation and this is why š¤ŗĀ
šØ People are forced into social activities.
š They often lack authenticity and relevance.
š¬ We might create inclusivity issues.
𤄠We only scratch the surface.
I truly believe that team building activities needs to be tailor made. I see that the way to go could be first:
š Interviewing the manager.
š Distributing surveys to the employees.
š§ Doing the analysis, and then creating relevant and authentic activities to this specific team.
That is what I am currently do on my living room floor everyday - trying to create a new way to team-build.
I am curious, what are your thoughts and tips on this topic?
